How Much Money Does Jay Cutler Get Paid?
After week two of the 2016-2017 NFL season, the Chicago Bears are now 0-2. Last night’s performance against the Philadelphia Eagles was absolutely lackluster at best. Once again, Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler, did not impress many fans, critics, athletes, or the Eagles. Cutler is now facing a lengthy absence after being injured during last night’s game. Let’s get into some quick details, since I’m sure many are wondering how much is Jay Cutler actually paid. Before we get into his salary for 2016-2017, we must first acknowledge his ranking with the rest of the NFL. Pro Football Focus, ranked Jay Cutler at 22 out of 32 total NFL quarterbacks for the 2016-2017 season. This may not surprise you as far as rating, but as far as salaries it should.
In 2014 Business Insider wrote an article about the highest paid NFL Players. In this article they had Jay Cutler ranked as the highest paid NFL Player. Take a look at the chart from 2014. Jay cutler was making 22.5 MILLION dollars per year in 2014. If that isn’t insane, I don’t know what is.
Fast Forward to 2016 – Jay Cutler’s QB rating has dropped since then, also has his salary (but not by THAT much). According to Sport Trac, “Jay Cutler signed a 7 year, $126,700,000 contract with the Chicago Bears, including $54,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $18,100,000. In 2016, Cutler will earn a base salary of $16,000,000. Cutler has a cap hit of $17,000,000 while his dead money value is $19,000,000.” This means that Jay Cutler will earn at least $16,000,000 this season, with a potential of up to $19,000,000.
In any light, Jay Cutler still remains one of the highest paid player in the NFL.
