Case in point: All 14 rooftops and terraces in this article are close, most of which are predictably downtown, first opened in spring 2015 at the earliest. Because who doesn’t want picturesque skyline or neighborhood views while taking in Chicago’s all-too-brief summertime warmth over a drink and a meal?

The stunning rooftop atop the gorgeously-restored Chicago Athletic Association hotel may be the queen bee of Chicago’s new generation of elevated outdoor spaces. Lose yourself in unobstructed views of Millennium Park across the street and the deep blue expanse of Lake Michigan beyond, while pondering the deliciousness of boozy popsicles, standout cocktails and small plates.
